Bobby Thomas Quinten

Bobby "Bob" Thomas Quinten, age 84 of Fannin County, Texas, passed away on April 9, 2022. He was born on September 2, 1937 in Sherman, Texas to Grover and Dorothy (Payne) Quinten. Bobby graduated from Sherman High School in 1956 where he played multiple sports and especially excelled in baseball. Prior to graduating high school, he joined the National Guard in which he went on to serve for eight years.

Bob earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma in 1960, and, later obtained his Masters of Arts in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1963. He served as a history instructor at Northwestern University from 1964 to 1969. It was during this time he met his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" whom he married on August 21, 1965 in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Bobby was a lifelong educator. He served as Professor of History and Dean of Instruction at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma from 1969 until 1979. During this time, he also coached elementary and middle school children in all types of sports. Later in his life he worked in sales and operated his own janitorial supply business in McKinney, Texas.

A dedicated Christian, he worked as a volunteer in various churches as a teacher and instructor of God's word for many years. Most recently he was a member of the Melissa Church of God, where he taught the adult Sunday School class.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Liz and son, Patrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Dorothy Quinten; brothers, Grover "Chuck" Quinten and wife, Estelle, and Dan Quinten and wife, Jody; sister, Jackie McRoberts; sister, Gayle Ailey; niece, Suzan Manuel; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Quinten.

Other family members he is survived by include: his brother, Gary Quinten, and his children, Kevin Quinten and Claire, Anthony Quinten and wife, Sarah and Gary's daughter, Jordan;

His sister, Brenda Smith and her husband, Dusty; nephew, Derek Smith and wife, Jennifer; nieces, Stephanie Sawyer and Josh.

His brother, Mike Quinten and Mike's wife, Terri; his son, Michael Quinten II; nieces, Amy Grimm and husband, Chris, and Tonya Gilmartin; nephew, Austin Quinten and wife, Marie. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Ricky Quinten.

Other survivors include niece Laura Crawford and husband Chris Crawford; nephew Lindy Quinten and wife Jennifer, niece, Connie and husband Robert Werner; and nieces, Melissa McRoberts and Amanda McRoberts; nephews, Aaron McRoberts, Chris McRoberts, and Johnny McRoberts; and nephew, Zach Ailey and his wife, Laci; and niece, Sarah Ailey.

He is also survived by sister-in-law, Jean Davis and her husband, Jimmy; nephews, Daniel Davis and wife, Kim, David Davis and wife, Dodie, and Doug Davis and wife, LaDonna; brother-in-law, William Musselwhite and wife, Donna; and special friends, Brenda and George Hughes, Sheron Hurt, Angel Rodriguez, and Mike Cox.
