Bobby Luttrull

December 20, 1936 — January 12, 2021

Bobby Lynn "Bob" Luttrull passed away on January 12, 2021 at Richardson Methodist Hospital due to COVID-19 complications. Bob was born December 20, 1936 in Wolfe City, Texas to Lillian Smithers Luttrull and Robert T. Luttrull. He was the fifth of six children.

Bob joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating Wolfe City High School in 1955, serving as an Air Traffic Controller until 1961, when he moved to the DFW area - eventually settling in Garland, Texas to raise his family. Bob owned his own automotive services business, specializing in speedometer repair and locksmithing, serving many car dealers and individuals in his community. Bob was a member of the First Christian Church of Garland. He was an awesome father to his two sons. He loved coaching their sports when they were younger and was always a fixture in the stands when he wasn't coaching. Later in life, he enjoyed playing softball and golf with his sons and many friends. He always loved watching and supporting his grandchildren in their many activities, as well. They will always remember Grandpa Bob's great bear hugs! He also enjoyed spending time with Nena, his wife of 21 years, and his beloved dog Abby.

Bob was a beloved member of the Garland community – it seemed that everyone in town knew him, and all that met him considered him a friend. He will be missed by many, but especially by his family who survive him: His wife, Nena Starnes Luttrull and his sidekick Abby; his sons, Scott Luttrull and wife Tina, Lance Luttrull and wife Lori; his stepchildren, Baron Smith and wife Jill, Julie Petty and husband Kevin; his precious grandchildren, Tanner, Sam, Lauren, Braden and Tarynn Luttrull; his step-granddaughters, Laurie Smith, Angela Crawford and husband Dustin.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Margaret Casey, Dorothy Compton, Louise Seals; James Luttrull and Linda Putnam; and his step-granddaughter, Kelli Smith.

Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and hospital staff from Richardson Methodist Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice for the countless hours caring for and comforting Bob during his illness, as well as their amazing communication with and support for our family throughout that difficult time.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Memorial service will be planned later. Condolences and words of sympathy can be left on the Charles W. Smith Funeral Home Memorial page.
