Audrey Mae Kerr Spears (82) of McKinney, Texas passed away in Allen on January 29, 2012. Audrey was born April 25, 1929 in Bloomdale, Texas to Bernard and Ida (Hayes) Kerr of Bloomdale. She married Walter Spears, Jr. of Franklinton, Louisiana on August 25, 1944.
Audrey worked most of her life starting out helping her mother do laundry for other people in town, also worked many years at the McKinney Haggard Pants Factory and then many years at Texas Instruments in Richardson, as well as owning her own Dress Shop in downtown McKinney.
She was a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney.
Audrey is survived by son: Bill Spears and wife Linda of Houston; daughter: Susan (Spears) Hulon of Allen, son: Danny Spears and wife Debbie of McKinney, Daughter: Vicky (Spears) Searcy and husband Charles of Ft. Worth. Grandchildren: Ronny Spears of Allen, Ashley Hulon of Allen, Alicia (Gidney) Mize of McKinney, Timothy Hulon and wife Shawna of Marble Falls, Tanner Spears and wife Holly of Houston, Brian Gidney and wife Shannon of Van Alstyne, Emily (Spears) Sager and husband Bobby of McKinney, Abby (Searcy) Everitt and husband Steven of Hawaii, Tyler Spears of Grapevine, Adam Spears of Dallas, Preston Searcy of Ft. Worth and Caleb Searcy of Tyler. Ten (10) Great Grandchildren, Dalton Hill, Dakota Mize, Logan Hulon, Austin Hulon, Carolyn Spears, Maci Sager, Kylie Sager, Elizabeth Spears, Lelia Searcy and Jaxon Gidney, numerous nieces and nephews, Aunt Pat Hayes of McKinney and Cousin Vera Beth Shelton of McKinney along with numerous family members.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Spears, a daughter Wanda Maxine Gidney, grandson Powel Thomas Spears, parents, Bernard and Ida Kerr, brothers: Winston Kerr, Ewin Preston (Buzz) Kerr, and her twin Aubrey Kerr.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas. 75069.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. Pastor Don Neil will officiate. Interment will be following at Walnut Grove Cemetery at Prosper, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
