Wylie

Audrey Lee Lineberry Mathenia was born May12, 1939 to the late Granville Lineberry and Helen Lineberry Hoxworth in Portageville, Missouri.  Audrey was the oldest of two daughters born to the Lineberrys.  Audrey passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas, on April 15, 2023 at the age of 84.

Audrey was the beloved wife of 64 years to Lloyd “Dean” Mathenia, who passed away in January of 2022.  She was a dear mother to her daughter, Angela Hughes, her son-in-law, Bennett Hughes and a loved grandmother to her grandsons, Dean Bennett Hughes and Noah Lewis Hughes.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Lewis Hoxworth.  Audrey is survived by her sister, Martha Smith, her half-brother, Darrell Hoxworth, her half-sister, Lisa Rohan, her stepbrother Richard Hoxworth, two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Audrey was raised in the Bootheel of Missouri.  She graduated from Charles G Ross High School in Pemiscot County, Missouri in May of 1957.  Audrey was involved in many extracurricular activities including being a majorette and a member of the Hayward Methodist Church.  She was crowned Homecoming Queen in the fall of 1956.

Audrey held various personal assistant type of positions throughout her career for financial institutions like Royal Globe and The Hartford.  However, her most valued job was as a stay-at-home mother to Angela from 1963 until 1976.

Audrey and Dean retired in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in April of 1997.  They relocated to their retirement paradise in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and then Naples, Florida.

Audrey and Dean were on the move again in February of 2013 when they relocated to Wylie, Texas to be near their daughter and her young family.  They enjoyed spending many hours at their grandsons’ sporting, band and school events over the years.

Audrey will be laid to rest next to Dean in a private ceremony at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, an expression of love to Wylie Christian Care Center at 1310 W. Brown St., Wylie, Texas, 75098, would be greatly appreciate by this underserved portion of our local community and the family.
