Andrew Borg

Andy Borg was 24 when he left his earthly life and joined his big brother Jackson in heaven November 1, 2020. Oddly enough – All Saints Days. He would have loved that. Andrew (Andy) Glenn Borg, son of Cindy and Kevin Borg died from an unexpected health event while hot-tubbing at the Borg home after a truly glorious day. He was immediately welcomed into heaven with fierce and loving bear hugs from Jackson, who preceded him in death just two years ago.
It's only fitting that Andy was born in Dallas, Texas, on Pearl Harbor Day – December 7, 1995, because he exuded a spirit and endearing personality that will live in infamy.
Andy graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 2014. A naturally gifted-athlete, he participated in multiple recreational sports teams throughout high school. Following graduation from high school, Andy began his college education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 2014. In hopes of pursuing a career in aviation, he entered Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, where he studied aviation and earned his private pilot license in addition to his associate's degree. He then went on to earn his instrument rating in Charleston, South Carolina. He was just hours shy of attaining his commercial pilot's license. He also just received his endorsement for tail wheel aircraft. His ultimate goal was to become an aircraft firefighter.
With a pure sense of uninhibited freedom and joy, Andy lived life to the fullest and often on the edge. His frequent visits to the ER can attest to the fact he was always getting a stitch or 10 on different body parts. His adventurous spirit loved anything that involved a board - surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. Anything that provided an adrenaline rush Andy pursued it relentlessly. He also loved music and enjoyed playing guitar and later drums in his 20s.
Being with friends and family is what Andy loved most. His loyalty and genuine empathy were rare qualities he had as a friend. He made everyone feel like they were his best friend. Andy was crazy about his buds and was always there for his family. He gave the best hugs and melted hearts with his warm, bright smile. He was loved because he loved others.
Andy leaves behind a large community of loving friends and family. In addition to his parents Cindy and Kevin (of Dallas), he is survived by his girlfriend Katie Crow, grandmothers Nydia Borg of El Paso, TX, and Ninva Barkham of Dallas; aunts and uncles: Liz & Jeff Moore (Denver, CO), Eric Borg (El Paso); Laurie & David Sobocinski (Tacoma, WA); Laurie Barkham (Forney, TX); cousins: Brent Barkham (Forney); Jacob Barkham (Forney); Jon Sobocinski (Austin), Megan Cornish, Daniel Sobocinski, Meri Sobocinski, Scott Sobocinski (all of Tacoma, WA); and a multitude of friends whose lives he had touched and loved him dearly.
Andy never met a stranger and he will live on in his friends and family until we meet again for eternity. Until then, he'll be with his best friend and brother Jackson, where they will tear it up with Jesus. Fly High Andy – we love you.
A private family visitation will be Friday, Nov. 6 at Eastgate Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Andy's Life Saturday, Nov. 7, at 5pm, on the front lawn of the Borg's home overlooking White Rock Lake – one of Andy's favorite spots to watch to the sunset. Masks are required for this social-distanced service.
